Movie Monday: Y tu mamá también (2001)

We open our autumn programme with Y tu mamá también (2001), Alfonso Cuarón’s iconic coming-of-age classic.

For seventeen-year-olds Julio and Tenoch, life revolves around friendship, desire, and the restless rush towards adulthood. When they embark on a road trip with a mysterious older woman, what begins as a carefree adventure gradually becomes a journey of discovery—about each other, themselves, and the world around them.

A sweet, melancholic and sultry summer film that, 25 years on, remains as captivating and emotionally resonant as ever. An ode to unanswered thoughts.
